Prager Morgenpost 16/12/1862 published brief details of this event, noting: ‘Beethoven Festival. The birthday of Ludwig von [van] Beethoven is being commemorated by the Music Society Aéde [Aëde] through a thanksgiving festival taking place in the Konvikt Hall on 17th December (Wednesday 7pm).’ A review, signed with a mark of two parallel lines ‘=’, appeared in the newspaper on 18/12/1862. The critic reported: ‘Beethoven Festival. The here-present German Singing Society „Aëde“ meritoriously had the idea that the birthday of Beethoven in our otherwise avowedly music-loving city should not be completely passed over. Yesterday evening in the Konvikt Hall the members of „Aëde“ and an exceptional number of guests came together for their Beethoven Festival. The spaciousness of the Hall turned out to be inadequate for the great crush. The fairer sex in particular were numerous and occupied almost the entire hall, whilst the gentlemen had to be content with the view from the gallery over the delightful parterre. The Hall was decorated with a bust of the celebrated Tonepoet adorned with a laurel wreath. The Festival commenced with a prologue, which the Theatre member Mr Fischer performed in an expressive manner and which was frequently applauded. Thereafter followed the chorus by Beethoven: „Die Ehre Gottes“ performed by the choir of the society „Aëde“. The other items of the programme that we heard were consisted entirely of works by Beethoven.’ No further details of the event were given by this source.

The arrangement for chorus of Beethoven’s Lied Die Ehre Gottes was not specified. Possibly the song was performed in unison by the chorus of Aëde.
