The German-language newspaper Tagesbote aus Böhmen 16/1/1857 reported that ‘On the following Sunday takes place in the Hall of Žofín Island the musical trial [Musikprobe] to the Society Ball [Gesellschaftsballe] that will be occuring on 2nd February for the benefit of the Private Institute for the Education and Well-being of poor blind Children. The music is rendered by the newly organized ensemble of the Civil Sharpshooters Corps under the personal direction of Kapellmeister Mr Karl Komsak [Karel Komzák].’ No further details of the trial were given by the source.
